Two Weeks Later

The incessant ring of the door buzzer finally woke Wes up from his deep sleep. He gazed around his room lazily and noticed that Derek ‘Hobbie’ Klivian, his roommate, had already left for the day. The buzzer’s continued noise was a definite confirmation of that. He looked at his bedside chrono and sighed heavily. 0600. Wonderful. Sleepily, he kicked off the covers, pulled on a pair of cotton sleep-pants and went out to the common room to answer the door.

The last two weeks were a hazy blur for Wes, as he had spent most of his free time with Siobheann and Colin. The had gone to many of the tourist spots that Coruscant had to offer and he did a stellar job of keeping his squad-mates in the dark about his outings. No need for them to find out that Wes "The Ladies’ Man" Janson had a kid with a woman he had barely known.

Today, however, was his first full day of leave in a very long time and he had intended on catching up on some much-needed sleep. His door buzzer, however reminded him that someone had other plans for him. If that's Hobbie claiming that he forgot the entry code I’m gonna deck’im…

He pounded the door panel and the door slid open. He blinked a few times to get his eyes to focus and he woke up completely when he saw who his visitor was.

"Shiv…why…wha…huh?" The effect of seeing Siobheann dressed in a pantsuit with a sleeping Colin in one arm and a fully loaded diaper-bag in the other was like having a bucket of ice water poured over him.

"Wes! Thank goodness I found you!" She breathed, pushing past him and into the rooms he shared with Hobbie on Sivantlie base. She dropped the diaper-bag on the floor and then gently placed Colin on the common room’s couch. "I need you to watch Colin for me! Poor old Greta came down with the flu and I have several job interviews to go to today. You’re the only other person on this planet that I trust with Colin."

"I beg your pardon?" Was all Wes could think of as his addled mind tried to wrap itself around her hasty explanation.

"Please Wes, it’s only for today!"

"Yeah but…"

"Thank you so much!" And with a hasty goodbye-kiss she was gone. Wes turned to the sleeping form on the couch and swallowed the lump of apprehension that had lodged itself in his throat.

"I have a bad feeling about this…" he whispered. With a dejected sigh, he went back to his room and fell onto his bed.

He was asleep within minutes.
